An essential in any herb garden. This variety has dark green broad leaves and is a basic ingredient of bouquet garni. Thyme leaves and stems are indispensable in flavouring soups, stews, sauces, stuffing or in beef, pork, lamb or chicken dishes. It is slightly spicier than oregano and sweeter than sage.
Useful in the garden as a fragrant ground cover and tolerant of dry conditions, full sun and poor soils so fabulous for rockeries or hard to grow areas.
Also known as German thyme, winter thyme, common thyme and garden thyme.
