Thalictrum White

Thalictrum delavayi ‘White’, also known as Chinese meadow rue, is a delicate and refined perennial prized for its airy sprays of white, nodding flowers held on tall, slender stems. Blooming in mid to late summer, it brings a soft, cloud-like effect to shaded or semi-shaded borders, where its finely divided, lacy foliage adds to its graceful appearance. Reaching 100–150 cm at maturity, it’s well-suited for the back of borders, naturalistic plantings or woodland gardens.

As a cut flower, Thalictrum ‘White’ offers both elegance and longevity. The wiry stems and dainty blooms add lightness and movement to floral arrangements, making it a popular filler for soft, romantic bouquets.

Once established, transplant seedlings into part shade in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space plants 40–60 cm apart. Thalictrum prefers consistent moisture but dislikes waterlogged conditions. It is hardy, low-maintenance, and resistant to most pests.

Seeds may benefit from cold stratification—chill for 2-3 weeks before sowing. Sow on the surface or lightly cover with fine soil.
