Aromatic leaves are a substitute for French Tarragon which cannot be grown from seed as the flowers are sterile. Texas tarragon has a sweet licorice/anise flavour and will lift the taste of salads and many dishes.
Golden yellow flowers in flat-topped clusters appear throughout the summer. Along with the slender leaves, the flowers can be dried and used to make a delicious tea.
Medicinally it is useful as a stimulant, diuretic, and also aids digestion.
Used to flavour a popular carbonated soft drink, Tarkhun, in some countries where the tarragon leaves give it its signature green colour.
Easy to grow and will tolerate most growing conditions.
Also known as Mexican tarragon, Mexican mint marigold or winter tarragon.
Note: Medicinal use of herbs requires thorough research. We advise checking with a medical professional particularly if pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication.
