One of the most commonly grown perennial legumes cultivated for its nutritious seeds. Fast growing woody shrub reaching 1-4m in height, producing numerous clusters of pods filled with protein and vitamin rich peas. Dried or cooked its used in dishes replacing lentils, chickpeas, peas or beans, like dahl. Leaves and new shoots are edible and often included in stews and stir-fries.
Also great as a stock feed to be grazed by cows, pigs, sheep and pecked at by poultry and suitable as a low growing wind break. Sow or transplant out after last frosts.
