Helichrysum Salmon

Helichrysum bracteatum ‘Salmon’, also known as strawflower or everlasting daisy, is a stunning annual renowned for its papery, rose-pink to salmon-toned blooms. These flowers retain their colour and shape when dried, making them highly prized for dried arrangements, wreaths and floral crafts. In fresh bouquets, their unique texture adds contrast and longevity, often outlasting more delicate companions.

In the garden, Helichrysum provides continuous colour throughout summer and into early autumn. Plants grow to 90–110 cm, producing tall, sturdy stems ideal for cutting. With their bright, daisy-like flowers and tidy upright growth, they work well in mixed borders, cutting gardens and wildflower plantings. The blooms also attract pollinators, adding ecological value to ornamental beds.

Strawflowers thrive in well-drained, moderately fertile soil, and are drought-tolerant once established. Deadheading encourages repeat blooming. For drying, cut flowers just before they fully open and hang upside down in a cool, dry place.
