A deciduous, woody perennial from China, renowned for highly nutritious fruit. Loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants the bright orange-red fruit are dried to preserve them for use in baking, muesli, casseroles or as a snack. The fruit can also be made into juice.
Relatively easy to grow, plants take 2-3 years to fruit, preferring to grow in well limed, free-draining soil and are frost hardy. Trees will fruit better when grown together. Watch for slugs and snails.
