An excellent food source or supplementary feed for cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, and rabbits. These large summer grown beets provide a mass of edible beet leaves and nutritious, palatable (up to 10kg) roots for autumn and winter feed for animals. Best chopped into pieces for sheep and cows or else hung in chicken houses and pet enclosures to entertain and provide food for hens and other pets in winter. Orange skinned, white fleshed bulb with 11-14% dry matter and strong bolting tolerance. Choose deep free draining soil for best results. Direct sow seeds at 15cm within the row and 30cm between rows. Harvest by grazing or lift roots and feed out as required. Seed is New Zealand grown.
