Supersweet, bi-colour variety for main season production. Sturdy plants with attractive ears of corn and cobs well protected with good husk cover. Cobs typically 18-20cm in length with excellent tip fill. Juicy, sweet kernels and tender bite. Good resistance to common rust.
Supersweet corn are varieties of sweet corn which produce higher than normal levels of sugar (4 to 10 times more sugar than normal su sweet corn). They have been developed by natural breeding methods and have a shrivelled “shrunken” kernel and low levels of starch hence they prefer warmer conditions for successful germination (20 -30 degrees soil temperature) than standard sweet corn varieties.
Sowing can begin early October for warmer parts of the country through until mid-November for cooler regions. Sweet corn will take around 90 – 100 days to mature from sowing. Ensure you have sufficient soil warmth to ensure a good germination rate but sufficient time for cobs to mature before it begins to cool in early Autumn.
