Cineraria Silverdust

Cineraria ‘Silverdust’ (Cineraria maritima, also known as Senecio cineraria) is a striking foliage plant valued for its finely cut, silvery-grey leaves that provide strong contrast in both garden beds and floral arrangements. Its soft, felted foliage is evergreen in mild climates and offers year-round interest, especially when paired with brightly coloured annuals or perennials.

As a cut foliage, ‘Silverdust’ is widely used by florists to add texture and brightness to bouquets. The silver leaves complement both vibrant and pastel flower tones, and the foliage lasts well once cut. It can also be dried for use in preserved arrangements and wreaths.

In the garden, Cineraria ‘Silverdust’ is a favourite for borders, edging and mass plantings, thanks to its compact, mounding habit and drought tolerance. Plants typically grow to 25–35?cm tall and spread to around 30?cm. It’s ideal for creating definition in mixed beds or softening the edges of pathways and containers.

Cineraria prefers full sun to part shade, and well-drained soil. Once established, it needs minimal watering and thrives in poorer soils. Trim lightly to shape and remove flower buds if grown purely for foliage.

Surface Sow: Requires light to germinate. Sow seed on the surface. Press seed down into the soil. Keep moist.
